Since they deleted my last review I’m posting it again. I found a kitten in my backyard and I rescued her and had her for two days, I really wanted her and I named her Mikey and fed her, washed her, thought her to use the litter box, and loved on her she was a very sweet kitty and loved on me I got attached but my mom’s was allergic so she said no. I took the kitten who was only 4 weeks old she was perfectly healthy and could eat and drink water and played, ran, meowed, and purred. I found out I can stay at my sisters so I can keep the kitty so I called the animal shelter and asked them if it was possible to get the kitty and adopt her since circumstances have changed and they told me they put her down because she had ringworm which is curable. My boyfriend also adopted a dog from there which had ringworm and they gave him medicine to treat her. I also don’t think she had ringworm because it has been four days and everybody who has touched the cat does not have ringworm and I called today to see talk to them and they said it was because they don’t have ringworm supplies for kittens but they do for older cats and that is not true the internet says they do have the resources for kittens who have ringworm and I told the lady well I don’t think you guys should take in kittens if you don’t have the resources if they possibly have something and she just hung up on me. I called back and asked for the manager and told her what happened and all she said was she was going to have somebody call me and asked for my information the manager was also very rude. Tests also take at least 24 hours and they put her down the day I brought he cat in. It also probably costs as much money for supplies to euthanize than to get supplies for ringworms. They should of called to say their going to euthanize the animal and so i could have taken her back and even if I couldn’t at least giver her to come body that can get treatment and help her instead of killing a four week old kitten and they had my number and name. Also at least updated me so I know that she had ringworm since I was touching her. If they don’t have enough space they also put the anima down which instead they should tell the person that theirs isn’t enough space and that they might euthanize the animal so then they can find them a home or take them themselves.

There are so many things that are ethically questionable about this place. Despite it being a kill shelter which is debatable in itself, they are deleting honest reviews. This is a publicly funded facility and is within YOUR best interest to retain public trust. You should be more communicative when euthanizing for treatable illnesses shortly after intake. I understand being crowded and understaffed, but ringworm is very treatable, contagious but treatable. Additionally, a poor kitty would not have had to missed out on its entire life, only if you would have been openly communicative about diagnosis and euthanasia measures. I think this is morally wrong especially with the public facade this place has created for itself. You will not be seeing any more service or money from multiple previously loyal families because of this.
